We are University of California, Riverside's Autonomous Underwater Vehicle student organization, making AUVs and competing in RoboNation's RoboSub
RoboSub 2015 The 18th RoboSub Competition took place at the SSC Pacific TRANSDEC facility in San Diego, CA. With 37 teams representing Canada, China, India, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey and the United States of America.
RoboSub teams gather once a year with one mission in mind: demonstrate autonomy with their Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) through various tasks mimicking behaviors required of AUVs to operate successfully in the real world. Read through the rules and get familiar with all the challenges these teams face at competition. “We love the opportunity to sponsor RoboNation. One of our main objectives attending RobotX and RoboSub was to recruit. These are the exact type of students that we want to come to work at Blue Origin – for internships or full time jobs.” There is a spot for you at RoboNation.

T he behaviors demonstrated by these experimental AUVs mimics those of real-world systems, currently deployed around the world for underwater exploration, seafloor mapping, and sonar localization, amongst many others. RoboNation, Inc. (previously the AUVSI Foundation) began operation in 2009 with generous support from AUVSI and three founding partners – SolidWorks, Northrop Grumman and Insitu (a Boeing company). Today, RoboNation is an independent, tax exempt, 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide a pathway of hands-on educational experiences that empower students to find innovative solutions to global challenges. SeaPerch and SeaGlide are cornerstones of RoboNation and often the beginning of a journey into robotics.

RoboSub is an international competition that invites participants to tackle simplified versions of challenges facing the underwater maritime industry. These challenges may include oceanographic exploration and mapping, detection and manipulation of objects, and pipeline identification and tracking. The RoboSub competition is an annual week-long marathon at the US Navy's TRANSDEC Terminal in San Diego, California. Submarines traverse a randomized objective course, with challenges revolving around core aspects of naval robotics such as course navigation, obstacle identification, and object manipulation.
